PWDCNC-Hosted Agility Trial at Manzanita Park in Prunedale!

A Wonderful Weekend at the PWDCNC-Hosted Agility Trial at Manzanita Park in Prunedale! On the weekend of August 12-14, 2016, the PWDCNC hosted a three-day agility trial at a brand new (to us) venue—Manzanita Park in Prunedale. We teamed up for the event with the Border Collie Club of Northern California, and the weekend was awesome! Our trial included all breeds, and the Border Collie trial was BCs only. Unlike other trials where two clubs join forces, our partnership did not include the scoring of events. Border Collies were scored separately from all other breeds.  Dan Butcher was our judge for the weekend, and the courses were really fun for handlers and dogs alike. The weather was spectacular, a high of about 71° all weekend!  What a relief to be out of the summer heat! And the venue was really pleasant. The park is situated on a plateau with beautiful green grass and trees all around. We had a great turnout of PWDs, and hopefully we will have the same event next year, same time, same place.  Plan to join us!   Congratulations to the High in Trial winners, Barb Avila and Cali, the number one PWD agility team in the nation! They are also #1 in the Working Group and #8 for all breeds jumping at 20 inches in the 2015 Agility National Rankings. We are so proud of them! 2016 PWDCNC Annual Club Picnic!

2021-02-23T20:10:42-08:00

Our 2016 Annual Club Picnic—Fun for All! On Saturday, May 14, 2016, about 90 club members and friends gathered at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park in Pleasanton to celebrate the PWDCNC Annual Picnic.  We had great food brought by club members plus barbecued hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burgers.  Picnic goers had the chance to run an agility course with their PWDs, practice a Rally Novice course, get their photos taken, and let their dogs get wet. Special thanks to our gourmet chefs Mike Paterson and Chris Rasmussen.  An event like this is most definitely a group effort.  A huge thank you to the following people, without whose help and support we could not have had the picnic: Carl and Susan Craig, Elaine and Chris Rasmussen, PinPin Wong, Carole Corbett, Gail Browne-McDonald, Elinor and Red Cullen, SierraLynne White, Bill Wentz, Leslie and Jimmy Holt, Tim Ortman, Valerie Newman, Kathy Souza, Lynn and Mike McCallum (our photographer), George Ziemba and his wonderful PWD, Beej (our water demo dog), anyone I could grab to help, everyone who jumped in and helped where needed, anyone I have missed, and the PWDCNC Water and Agility Committees. If you missed the picnic, you missed a great time! See More Photos From the Picnic! Third Annual PWDCNC Agility Trial

2021-02-23T20:11:17-08:00

Our Third Annual PWDCNC Agility Trial went off without a hitch! The PWDCNC hosted its third annual agility trial at Murieta Equestrian Center in Rancho Murieta, CA on November 21, 22, and 23.  The weather was practically balmy for November, and we had a really great turnout of all breeds. So many of our member teams were there and enjoyed running the fun and challenging courses designed by judges Terry LeClair and Russ Osiol.  We offered all levels of Standard and Jumpers and FAST, Time to Beat, and the new Premier Standard and Premier Jumpers courses, too.  A great time was had by handlers and dogs alike. Barn Hunt was also offered in an adjacent barn, and that drew a very enthusiastic crowd as well. Long time club member Kathy Simmons and her boy Jazz were the winners of the High in Trial award this year.  HIT is earned by having the highest point total for the first two days of the trial. 2015 PWDCNC Water Trial—What a Blast!

2021-02-23T20:11:31-08:00

Another Successful Water Trial! The 2015 PWDCNC water trial is now in the books. Once again 2 trials were offered over the weekend with 2 rings running each day at our usual location in Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, Pleasanton, CA. Our wonderful judges were Tammy Etscheidt, Iowa, and Frank Cardillino, Maryland. Each team, whether new or well experienced, found our judges to be incredibly supportive, cheering for each success and encouraging for those not-quite-yet moments. This year’s theme was “Just Add Water”. Of course we expected to have low levels of water challenging both ring setup and performance of the exercises. To our total surprise the level of the water rose steadily over the weeks of water practice until we almost didn’t have enough beach to meet specifications! We sure weren’t complaining! The temperatures soared into the low 100’s presenting problems keeping competitors, both human and canine, cool. Frequent breaks to get the dogs in the lake and a bathing station with cool water helped considerably. Special thanks go out to our incredible Trial Secretary Barb Avila, Equipment Chair Carl Craig and his crew, Chief Steward Judy Berger, Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Simmons, Hospitality Chair PinPin Wong and Trial Co-Chair George Ziemba! Thank you to everyone who stewarded, rowed, checked in equipment, helped with setup and/or tear down and all those other ever so important tasks which make our trial successful! And thank you to a number of members who were not competing but braved the heat to watch, cheer on the teams and stay to help! Click any picture to enlarge it!
